Benefits of a Destination Mountain Wedding

The Martyn’s Unique & UnforgettablE Wedding

The Martyn’s started the next chapter of their love story in front of a breathtaking landscape, wrapped in the crisp mountain air, and surrounded by the enchanting beauty of the Smokey Mountains. Their day was simply captivating from start to finish.

If you're engaged and dreaming of a wedding that goes beyond the ordinary, let Annie and Brandon Martyn's unforgettable destination mountain wedding inspire you.

In July 2022, deep in the Nantahala National Forest of North Carolina, they exchanged vows at Nantahala Weddings & Events in Topton, NC, surrounded by less than 100 family and friends.

breathtaking Backdrop

Annie and Brandon chose the stunning Nantahala National Forest in the Smokey Mountains as the backdrop for their intimate ceremony & reception. Surrounded by lush greenery, an alpine lake, and the Smokey’s iconic misty-mountaintops their entire celebration was a visual masterpiece. In addition to being gorgeous, it also showcased their adventurous spirits and reflected their grounded personalities.

Intimate Connection with nature

Waya Bald, the chosen location for their couples and wedding party portraits, became a magical setting. Wrapped completely in a cloud, Annie and Brandon experienced a moment of pure romance and connection with nature.

While they were initially disappointed they may not get the gorgeous mountain views they hoped for their couples portraits because of the dense clouds, they’d surrendered to the unpredictable weather and decided to make the best of it. Then about 5 minutes later, the clouds dissipated and the sun broke through. Suddenly they were illuminated in spectacular sunshine and the landscape they were hoping for in the background started to come into view.

This whole moment is important to mention, because choosing a mountain wedding means having to relinquish some of your control to Mother Nature. Being close to nature, while romantic and magical, can also be unpredictable and uncontrollable. I recommend taking the Martyn’s approach and just going with whatever comes and making the best of it. And who knows, you may be treated to a wonderful surprise.

Exclusive WEdding Experience

With less than 100 family and friends present, Annie and Brandon curated an exclusive experience for their guests. The intimacy of the celebration allowed everyone to share in the couple's joy in a personal and meaningful way, making it an ideal choice for those desiring an intimate destination wedding.

Seasonal Beauty

Destination weddings in the mountains provide stunning beauty in every season. Springtime will bring memorable blooms & the first, fresh flowers of the year. Summer, which the Martyn’s choose, gives full greenery and long days to make the most of your day. Fall brings unforgettable colors & cool air that makes for a delightful wedding experience. Winter, while often avoided due to how hard it can be to travel, offers a level of coziness and enchantment other seasons just can't provide. There’s really no bad time of year to have a mountain wedding.

Memorable Moments beyond the Ceremony

After all the "fancy" festivities were complete, Annie and Brandon embraced the laid-back charm of a mountain celebration by jumping into the lake near the venue! Together, they created a spontaneous and joyous moment that will be forever etched in their memories.

Beyond the spontaneity on their big day, the tight-knit nature of their wedding allowed them to invite their guests to go hiking and white water rafting the day after their wedding. Many of which decided to take them up on their offer.

Unforgettable experiences like these are what make a destination mountain wedding truly special.

Annie and Brandon Martyn's destination wedding is a testament to the unique and unforgettable experience a mountain celebration can offer. From the clouds at Waya Bald to their refreshing jump in the lake, their wedding was a journey into love, adventure, and the beauty of nature.

So, if you're considering a destination mountain wedding, let their story inspire you to elevate your love and embark on a mountainous journey of your own, surrounded by stunning backdrops, an intimate connection with nature, and memorable moments that cater to your unique personality.
